TODAY IN HISTORY: Jose Rizal 150th Birthday



Today is a momentous milestone in Philippine history, nationalism and sense of identity as it marks the 150th birth anniversary of JOSE RIZAL, our NATIONAL HERO and the most prominent advocate for reforms in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era, was born in Calamba, Laguna on June 19, 1861.


Sometimes we have to look back in our history in order to understand our roots and be able to appreciate the things that our country have, which we Filipinos tend to neglect now a days.


Rizal, a polymath, martyr, patriot and the most important historical figure in the history of the Philippines, was executed by a firing squad of the Spanish rulers on Dec. 30, 1896 at the age of 35. Let's commemorate Rizal's life and works and honour what he have done to our country. He's achievements, novels, and the story of his martyrdom inspired Filipino resistance during the Spanish and American occupation forces.


Some of us don't even know who this guy is and some just don't care, but we should remember and take in mind that this guy's heroisms whose supreme sacrifices paved the way for the FREEDOM which our country now ENJOYS
