How to Customize and Change Sticky Notes Fonts and Size

My sticky note's font is set to a large one and it's kinda annoys me. The default font for a Sticky note is the Segoe Print. There doesn't seem to be any clean way to change the default font in a sticky notes unless you change it in the Registry.

Here's an easy way to do it.

  1. Start
  2. Run - type regedit
  3. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts
  4. Find "Segoe Print (TrueType)" and"Segoe Print Bold (TrueType)" on the Right Panel
  5. Change the value (double click on font) to the file name of any other font that you wish to use that is already installed. Change both fonts one by one.(For "times new roman" use times.ttf. For Arial font, its arial_0.ttf  and for Arial Bold, its arialbd_0.ttf)
  6. Restart the computer.
Windows 7 comes with a functional sticky notes but it doesn't have any features. Here are some helpful keyboard shortcuts if you want to change or customize the style and the size of your fonts.

Ctrl+I : Italic text
Ctrl+B : Bold text
Ctrl+T : Strikethrough
Ctrl+U : Underlined text
Ctrl+Shift+L : Bullet Form (click once) or Numbered List (click twice)
Ctrl+L : Left aligns text
Ctrl+R : Right aligns text
Ctrl+E : Centres text

Ctrl+A : Select all
Ctrl+Shift+A : Toggles all caps

Ctrl+1 : Single-space lines
Ctrl+2 : Double-space lines
Ctrl+5 : Set 1.5-line spacing
Ctrl+= : Subscript
Ctrl+Shift++ : Superscript

or Try this alternative way…

  1. Type or create your text to Microsoft Word
  2. Highlight and change the Font to Arial or Times Roman (same with the font you changed in the registry)
  3. Copy and Paste it back to Sticky Notes.
For complete list of Keyboard shortcuts for Windows you can check it on their website.

That's it! Enjoy guys!

how about the font size? I want to permanently change the size, not adjust them every start up.

@Joef Clarin Hi Joef! You can type or create your text in Microsoft Word, Change the font size, font text and font color there and then paste it back in the sticky note. You don't need to save the notes. When you close the application and then reopen it, your notes will be exactly where you left them, even if you restart your computer. If you want, you can also Pin It to your task bar window so you can always access it anytime.

To change the font size, highlight the text and use:
Ctrl+Shift+> to increase
Ctrl+Shift+< to decrease

This is cool! My sticky note is not boring anymore. Thanks dude!

Thanks!! I didn't know I can change the font size.

Dafont.com is a site where you can download a ton of free fonts. You can search for a specific typeface, or search by the type of lettering you want, whether it’s serif or sans serif, hand lettered or grunge style. You can also put in your own phrase to see how it looks in a particular font. A lot of these fonts are very decorative and many are handdrawn, so it’s not always the best place to search for body text fonts. Each selection also tells you whether your download is free for personal or commercial use. The download is easy – you get a zip file with the font file inside. Unzip, install, and you’re ready to go.
